Introduction to VPS Hosting
As websites grow in traffic and complexity, the need for greater control and resources becomes crucial. VPS hosting (Virtual Private Server hosting) is an excellent solution that bridges the gap between the affordability of shared hosting and the control and performance of dedicated hosting.
Even though the virtual servers share the same physical hardware, each VPS is isolated, meaning that the performance or security of one server does not affect the others.
Steps to setup Virtual Hosting on Console
- Login to your account via the console website.
- After the login process has been completed, you should see a dashboard like in the image below. Note that this tutorial assumes that you already have a purchased VPS, which should reflect on your dashboard, both on the table and on the summary card as top of the screen. Proceed by clicking manage on the VPS listed on the table.
- This action will lead you the ‘sites’ page that displays a listing of all the websites hosted on the VPS. In your case you should see an empty list, with a button to add an application at the right, as marked below, click on the button.
- You will be taken to a page that lists out about the supported applications for hosting, click on any of your choice. For this example, we will go with the static website.
- After doing that, a drawer slides down, asking for the domain, make sure to read the whole prompt first as this is crucial to the success of the hosting. Enter the domain name you have purchased, omitting the www, and click create website.
